Michael Murphy Financial Services Ltd is a financial services brokerage, providing advice, services and a range of products in the areas of financial planning, family and business protection, savings, investments, pensions, Life Insurance, Mortgage protection cover, Specified Serious illness Cover and Income Protection cover.

We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and would like you to feel safe when you give us your personal details. We will always clearly identify ourselves in correspondence and on our website. 

In order to provide you with relevant information, respond to your enquiries and requests for products and/or services we sometimes request that you provide us with information about yourself.   This Privacy Notice will inform you of the information we gather and how it is used.

Personal details – name, address (and proof of address), other contact details (e.g. email and telephone details), gender, marital status, family details, date and place of birth, employer, job title, smoking status, retirement age, occupation status, details of financial products including life policies, pensions, savings, and investments.

Details of income and expenditure, assets and liabilities, insurance claims, and mortgage arrears. Identification details – identification numbers issued by government bodies or agencies, utility bills, driver’s licence or passport details.

Should you apply to work at Michael Murphy Financial Services Ltd, we collect personal information from you such as; Name, Contact Details, CV’s education and employment history.

 

Special Categories of personal data

If we collect any special categories of personal data (eg. Health, political opinions, trade union membership – financial information is not classified as special categories of personal data) we will ensure we receive your explicit consent.

Michael Murphy Financial Services Ltd collect domain information from your visit to customise and improve your experience on our website. This website may collect certain information from your visit, including the date and time of your access, the pages you have accessed, the name of the Internet Service Provider and the Internet Protocol (IP) address by which you are accessing the Internet, and the internet address from which you linked to our site, if applicable. In certain instances, we may make your information available to third parties with whom we have a relationship where that third party is providing services on our behalf to clients. You can view the list of product providers we hold agencies with via the Central Banks website.  We will only provide those third parties with information that is necessary for them to perform the services and we take measures to protect your information.

 The information we collect may be used, stored and processed in the EU, UK, United States, Switzerland or in any other country in which Michael Murphy Financial Services Ltd does business. We will always try to process data within the EU and UK, however where data is being transferred outside the EEA, we ensure it is to a receiver in a country approved by the EU Commission or where there are the appropriate safeguards in place to protect your data.

Please note:

If you hold insurance against a liability that may be incurred by you against a third party, where for whatever reason you cannot be found or you become insolvent, or the court finds it just and equitable to so order, then your rights under the contract will be transferred to and vest in the third party even though they are not a party to the contract of insurance.  The third party has a right to recover from the insurer the amount of any loss suffered by them.  Where the third party reasonably believes that you as policyholder have incurred a liability the third party will be entitled to seek and obtain information from the insurer or from any other person who is able to provide it concerning:

  • the existence of the insurance contract,
  • who the insurer is,
  • the terms of the contract, and
  • whether the insurer has informed the insured person that the insurer intends to refuse liability under the contract.

    • To establish a customer’s attitude to investment risk in relation to pensions and investments, advisors have automated calculators which calculate customers attitude to various levels of risk having answered a series of questions.
  • Profiling for marketing purposes
    • When we seek to contact you about suitable services, we may run automated queries on our computerised database to establish the suitability of the proposed products or services to your needs.
  • Establishing affordability and providing quotations for financial services

  • Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate.  You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have

one month to respond to you. Exemptions may apply if the information requested is considered excessive or repetitive.
